Filmmaker-actor Rajat Kapoor, who had to wait for two years to release his film "Fatso", says it's frustrating when your movie fails to reach the audiences.

"The film has been ready for two years. Our job is to make a film and deliver it. After that the producers and the marketing team take the call. They wait for the right time; they wait for the right moment when they feel it will work. I don't really understand, " Rajat told.

"It is very frustrating that something that you have made is not reaching the audiences and you are dying for it to come out. But it is not in your hands and you accept it and move on, " he added.

Rajat had earlier directed films like "Raghu Romeo", "Mixed Doubles" and "Mithya". Finally, his "Fatso" is coming out May 4 and he feels this is the right time to release his rib-tickling comedy that stars Ranvir Shorey, Gul Panag, Purab Kohli and Vinay Pathak.

"Three years back there was a wave of films like 'Bheja Fry', 'Oye Lucky Lucky Oye' and 'Mithya'. They did well at that time... the last two years saw the return of blockbuster mainstream cinemas like 'Dabangg' and 'Wanted', so audiences wanted to see that, " Rajat said.

"Now, even I am feeling something is changing again after 'Kahaani', 'Paan Singh Tomar', and 'Vicky Donor'. So it's a cycle and I feel the wheels have turned, hopefully. So maybe now it's the right time, " he added.

He wants to continue making small budget non-commercial movies and said mainstream masala is not his cup of tea.

He said: "That is not my interest, I don't even watch those films. For me, to make a film means take out one year of my life. So why should I take out one year of my life for something I don't believe in?

"I am not in this business to make money and that was never my intention. I only want to make films that I believe in. I will never make a film that I don't believe in. I have also accepted that my films may not release, but I make the film that I believe in, " he added.
